Today I was asked to play in the HHS Alumni Band Concert on May 20th. Of course I immediately said yes, because I will just go ahead and admit it...I was and am a band geek. Well not to the extent of some...it did not take over my life and i did not ever want to do it for a living but i did love it. It provided some of my college money and in the last few years i have actually just played my flute for the fun of playing. Those of you that have not kept playing, you have missed out, because now I play for the pure enjoyment of playing. who cares if i mess up, who cares if i don't know how to do something. there is no one there to laugh at me or tell me i stink or to move me down a chair if i freeze up on a tryout. I saw all this to encourage those of you who don't play anymore to find your horn or drum or whatever and play with it in a constructive manner (no using clarinets as bats or french horns as planters). Also, I would like to encourage the 3 or 4 that read this to either contact me and tell me you want to play with us on may 20th or show up that night and enjoy the rest of us playing for fun and for the Robert P. Chase bandhall.
